Kayaking: The goal had been to be on the water at sunrise. A sore leg and the snooze button on my alarm didn’t make the arrival time exact, but it still resulted in some peaceful exploration.

One of the many highlights of the morning was when were near the end of our 6-mile loop.

To get back to the location of our cars, we needed to pass under a bridge that had substantial current going in the opposite direction of us.  It was so strong, that I had the “walking up the escalator the wrong way” feeling. After paddling and paddling and padding, I was finally able to get past the spot. I’d be a liar if I denied the slight terror I felt during the whole business, but afterward, I was supremely happy that I was able to accomplish it.
