While traveling in North Carolina, I met Frank. Frank is the prettiest red car that I’ve seen in awhile. Which I feel like means a lot from a person that does not claim to love cars. I do love people and I love learning about other people’s passions. And Frank’s owner definitely has a passion for cars. I was allowed the honor of seeing Frank tuned on March 25, 2015. Frank is a 1989 Honda Prelude and the process of making him the best that he can be has been a lengthy one. Instead of me focusing on still imagery for the whole process, I tried taking video clips instead and assembled my very first video. -a wanderer-
Frank (1989 Honda Prelude) was purchased in 2011, at the start of a new car hobby. The decision was made at the beginning of 2012 to replace the B20a5 with an H22a. The swap started in June 2012. Due to occasional weekend work and two military deployments by the owner, the project took about two years to complete.
After the owner returned from the last military deployment, the last few issues were fixed and it was time for a tuning. Frank was driven to J. Mills Tuning in Franklinton, North Carolina. This the completion point that was aimed for at the start of the project.
Engine tuning is an adjustment, modification of the internal combustion engine or modification to its control unit. Setting the idle speed, fuel/air mixture, carburetor balance, spark plug and distributor point gaps, and ignition timing were regular maintenance items for all older engines and the final but essential steps in setting up a racing engine. Performance tuning focuses on tuning an engine for motorsport. The power output, torque, and responsiveness of the engine are of premium importance.
I’m honored to be able to share in and document this process. -a wanderer-
