stories from a wanderer | g r a y |
I’ve been feeling black and white lately.
Maybe it is from the winter weather that has been snowy and cold, filled overcast skies. Or maybe it’s just one of those times in the year that is full of introspection, which inevitably leads to an upchuck of thoughts and ideas.
In the wake of the University of Wisconsin Eau Claire’s Civil Rights Pilgrimage trip that I just photographed January 8-18, I felt compelled to go watch the newly released major motion picture of Selma which is currently in theaters. The movie introduced people from the past, who seemed like just photos on the walls of museums during the CRP. It connected a lot of dots from the trip and of course, I cried, and then mourned for the injustices that happened in the past. And then I mourned for the injustices that are still happening today. This sequence of late often ends with me angry at myself and my lack of knowledge on the civil rights of the past and the human rights of today. I feel disappointed in my ignorance and not blissful like some would suggest ignorance equates to.
Feeling compelled to share images, but not sure what to share, I thought today would be a perfect day for a few of my favorite black, white and gray images from the trip.
